Labour Students National Committee met to discuss the election of the National Committee 2018/19.

The Committee rejected a recommendation by national officers to conduct a One Member One Vote election in the summer, following the completion of the work currently being undertaken by the Labour Party Membership Team to validly determine eligible student members.

The Committee rejected the proposal on the basis that it would extend the terms of current national officers by an unacceptable duration, and voted to proceed with an election at Labour Students’ upcoming National Conference in the spring. Details the process of national conference, National Committee elections, submissions for policy motions, and how Labour Clubs can participate will be announced shortly, following a meeting of Labour Students’ Elections Committee, who will agree the process.
